Our Story
A hidden gem tucked away in Newby Court, just off the high street
Tucked down a quiet lane off Peebles high street, The Fat Batard Bakery is the kind of place you tell your friends about in hushed, urgent tones — partly because you want them to experience it, partly because you don't want the queue to get any longer.
Everything here is baked in small batches, by hand, with real craft and care. That's why we only open three days a week — Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday — and why regulars know to arrive early before the shelves clear. Our cheese and chilli sourdough has developed something of a cult following, and our ever-changing specials — think 99 ice-cream cruffins, inventive Danishes, and focaccia that people drive across the Scottish Borders to get their hands on — keep folk coming back week after week.
